BT Industries Advances Energy Storage Deployment in South Africa

As South Africa continues its energy transition, BT Industries is accelerating its green energy business development and leveraging its established EPC capabilities to expand the application of energy storage solutions across industrial sectors. From system design and equipment procurement to system integration, construction and project delivery, BT Industries continues to strengthen its end-to-end project execution capabilities, providing integrated green energy solutions for customers in South Africa.

In 2026, BT Industries further expanded its investment in the South African energy storage market and commenced the construction of local energy storage projects. One of these projects was successfully commissioned in May 2026, serving five factories and providing more flexible and reliable energy support for their industrial operations.

With a total capacity of 13.4 MWh, the project secured non-recourse financing from First National Bank (FNB) South Africa in February 2026, providing financial support for its construction and operations.

The February 2026 financing came before the May 2026 commissioning of the 13.4 MWh project. Serving five factories, the system connects BT Industries’ EPC delivery work with the industrial energy needs described in its South African expansion. BT Industries managed engineering design, equipment procurement, system integration and construction before delivering the installation. The company plans to continue developing energy storage and other green energy projects for industrial customers in South Africa.

As the EPC contractor, BT Industries was responsible for the full project execution process, including engineering design, equipment procurement, system integration and construction. Leveraging its professional project management capabilities and local execution expertise, BT Industries successfully delivered and commissioned the project. The project further demonstrates the company’s EPC execution capabilities in South Africa’s commercial and industrial energy storage sector and marks another step forward in its green energy business development. Looking ahead, BT Industries will continue to leverage its EPC and project delivery expertise to develop energy storage and other green energy projects in response to the needs of the South African market, providing industrial customers with efficient, reliable and integrated energy solutions.
